Real Madrid’s Injury and Suspension Update Ahead of Club World Cup Semi-Final vs PSG

Real Madrid are set for a high-stakes showdown against Champions League titleholders Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-final of the FIFA Club World Cup on Wednesday. The fixture marks the biggest challenge yet under the leadership of Xabi Alonso, who recently took charge of Los Blancos.

The Spanish club reached the last four with a 3-2 win over Borussia Dortmund, scored by goals from Gonzalo Garcia, Fran Garcia, and Kylian Mbappe. With a shot at their sixth Club World Cup title on the line, Real Madrid are closely monitoring several key injuries ahead of the clash with PSG, who eliminated Bayern Munich 2-0 in the previous round.

Real Madrid Injury News

David Alaba – Ruled Out
The Austrian defender continues his recovery from a meniscus injury that sidelined him throughout the group stage. Hopes of a late return have been dashed, as a calf complication has now officially ruled him out of the tournament.

Eduardo Camavinga – Major Doubt
Camavinga is racing against time to make the squad for the semi-final. The French midfielder has not featured since sustaining an adductor injury during a La Liga match against Getafe in April. He has resumed full training but remains a doubt for Wednesday’s clash in the United States.

Ferland Mendy – Ruled Out
Mendy remains sidelined with a thigh injury suffered in the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona. The right thigh rupture has prevented him from taking part in the Club World Cup, and his return is not expected until October.

Endrick – Out
After staying behind in Madrid during the initial phase of the tournament, Endrick has since joined the team in the U.S. Despite linking up with the squad, the young Brazilian forward is still recovering from a hamstring injury and is not expected to feature in the upcoming semi-final or final.

Real Madrid Suspension Update

Dean Huijsen – Suspended
Huijsen will miss the semi-final after receiving a red card late in the win over Dortmund. The summer signing brought down Serhou Guirassy as the last defender, conceding a penalty and earning a one-match ban. He’ll be eligible to return should Madrid advance to the final.

What’s at Stake

Real Madrid have a rich history at the Club World Cup, having previously lifted the trophy five times – in 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, and most recently in 2022. A win against PSG would put them one step closer to a record-extending sixth title.
