Real Madrid’s Fran Garcia Determined to Prove His Worth Amid Transfer Uncertainty

Real Madrid continue their search for a new left-back this summer, with SL Benfica’s Alvaro Carreras reportedly their top priority.

The club had initially hoped to secure a deal for the former academy graduate before the FIFA Club World Cup. However, the move has yet to materialize.

Despite the delay, Madrid remain committed to signing Carreras in the coming weeks. To accommodate the incoming left-back, the club has been weighing the possibility of offloading either Ferland Mendy or Fran Garcia.

With Mendy going through injury until October, Fran Garcia finds himself under increasing scrutiny regarding his future with the Real Madrid squad.

Garcia Staying

According to Spanish report MARCA, Fran Garcia remains composed and fully focused in spite of rising transfer speculation.

The Spanish defender is reportedly intent on proving his value to new manager Xabi Alonso through daily hard work and personal development. With Mendy injured, Garcia is expected to play a central role in Madrid’s campaign at the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup as the only senior left-back available.

There has been no indication that Garcia is considering an exit. On the contrary, he remains committed to the club and is prepared to fight for his place—a dream he has chased since his early days at the club’s youth system, La Fabrica.

His motivation to stay is not tied to contractual obligations, but to a genuine belief that he can continue to contribute to the team.

Real Madrid, for their part, intend to honor all existing contracts and are not pushing players toward decisions against their will.

Given Mendy’s injury and if no major changes occur in the coming weeks, Fran Garcia may still be wearing the white jersey at the Santiago Bernabeu when the new season kicks off—even if Carreras arrives.
