The Orlando Magic have completed the signing of 2024 second-round selection Noah Penda, officially welcoming the 32nd overall pick into their roster. The team confirmed the signing Tuesday through a press statement.
While the club did not release the full terms of the contract, Orlando Sentinel reporter Jason Beede noted that Penda’s deal was structured using the second-round exception. The contract reportedly includes guaranteed money for the first two seasons, a non-guaranteed third year, and a team option for a potential fourth season.
Penda, a 6-foot-8 forward from France, spent last season with Le Mans in the French top division. Over 37 appearances, he posted averages of 10.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.2 steals, and nearly one block per game. He shot 44.7% from the floor and connected on 32.2% of his attempts from beyond the arc.
Known for his defensive instincts and physical tools, Penda drew attention throughout the pre-draft process and was even projected by some analysts to be a first-round selection. The Athletic’s Sam Vecenie placed him 21st on his draft board. Orlando clearly rated him highly—going as far as trading four second-round picks, including this year’s No. 46 and No. 57 selections, along with two future seconds, to secure him in last week’s draft.
Following their reported free agent additions of Tyus Jones and Moritz Wagner, the Magic are now estimated to have 14 players on standard NBA contracts. The franchise is believed to be nearing the first-apron hard cap limit, which could restrict them from signing a 15th player before the regular season unless flexibility becomes available when final contract details are confirmed.
