Orange County SC traveled east to Segra Field for a tough midseason clash against Loudoun United FC. After 90 minutes of physical play and missed chances, the visitors walked away with a 0-0 draw and a valuable road point.
The opening half featured plenty of action despite the lack of goals. Orange County SC led the attacking numbers, taking seven shots, including one on target, while Loudoun United attempted four efforts, none troubling the goalkeeper.
One of the major moments of the match came in the 26th minute following a stoppage caused by a head injury. Just moments after returning to the field, Loudoun forward Zach Ryan caught Chris Hegardt in the face with an elbow. Initially shown a yellow card, Ryan’s challenge was reviewed and upgraded to a red, leaving Loudoun down to 10 men by the 33rd minute.
It was a scrappy first 45 minutes, with several fouls and injuries breaking up the rhythm. Nine minutes of stoppage time were added before the referee signaled the half. Orange County SC controlled the tempo with 61% possession compared to Loudoun’s 39%.
Pushing forward after the break and holding a one-man advantage, Orange County kept the pressure high but couldn’t find a breakthrough against Loudoun’s goalkeeper, Hugo Fauroux.
Ethan Zubak came close in the 64th minute, meeting a cross with a strong header, but Fauroux made a sharp save to deny the chance.
Deep into stoppage time, Bryce Jamison nearly stole all three points. With Fauroux out of position, Jamison’s shot on the open net drifted wide of the post, keeping the score level.
Defensively, Orange County stood firm throughout the match. They limited Loudoun’s attacking opportunities, allowing just one shot on target across 90 minutes.
Six minutes of additional time brought more intensity, but no winner. By the final whistle, Orange County had the edge statistically—56% possession and 19 total shots, including six on goal, to Loudoun’s 10 total attempts.
Up next, Orange County heads to Monterey for a Friday night showdown broadcast live on ESPN2. After that, the team returns to Championship Stadium on July 19 for a Western Conference matchup against Las Vegas Lights FC as part of Local Heroes Night.
