The Jacksonville Jaguars didn’t own the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, but that didn’t stop them from making waves. In a bold move, they traded up to the No. 2 spot to secure Travis Hunter, a dynamic two-way talent. The team gave up the fifth overall pick and a 2026 first-rounder to land the player they clearly view as a future cornerstone.
Now, after watching him flash his potential on both sides of the ball during rookie minicamp, Jacksonville has locked in their top pick on a rookie deal.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Jaguars have agreed to a four-year, \$46.65 million fully guaranteed contract with Hunter. The agreement includes a \$30.57 million signing bonus, which the team is paying entirely upfront.
That structure makes Hunter the first non-quarterback in NFL history who wasn’t taken first overall to receive his full signing bonus immediately.
But considering Hunter’s rare ability to contribute as both a wide receiver and a cornerback—a trait Jacksonville plans to fully utilize—it’s not surprising the team took an aggressive approach to finalize his deal.
