Caleb Williams Could Become NFC North’s Top Quarterback in 2025

Can Caleb Williams Rise as the Top QB in the NFC North in 2025?

The Chicago Bears appear to be building something serious. And at the heart of it all, there’s growing belief that Caleb Williams could soon be the division’s best quarterback.

Williams’ rookie campaign in 2024 had its share of rough moments, but many observers have pointed the finger at inconsistent coaching rather than the quarterback himself. Even amid the turbulence, Williams managed to toss 20 touchdown passes against just six interceptions — a ratio that signals poise and efficiency.

What he couldn’t avoid, though, was the constant pressure. He was sacked far too often, a sign that the offensive line just wasn’t up to the task. That’s changed dramatically in the offseason. Chicago made a major splash by bringing in Ben Johnson — widely regarded as one of the NFL’s brightest offensive minds — and reinforced the offensive line with aggressive moves in both free agency and the draft.

It’s no longer far-fetched to think that Caleb Williams could become the top quarterback in the NFC North this coming season.

So, what’s left for Chicago’s offense to complete the puzzle? The line is no longer a liability, and the talent surrounding Williams is eye-catching. With D’Andre Swift in the backfield, rookie wideout Rome Odunze joining DJ Moore and Luther Burden III, and reliable tight ends Cole Kmet and Colston Loveland in the mix, this group looks loaded.

That amount of firepower could be overwhelming for opposing defenses. Johnson, who spent years turning Detroit’s offense into a powerhouse, appears to be molding a similar system in Chicago. His previous success with Jared Goff shows he knows how to get the best out of a quarterback — and many believe Williams has an even higher ceiling than Goff.

Meanwhile, in the rest of the division, JJ McCarthy is expected to experience growing pains as a rookie, and Jordan Love still hasn’t shown enough to convince analysts he can take the next leap. That sets the stage for Caleb Williams — the No. 1 overall pick from the 2024 draft — to potentially leap ahead of his peers and take control of the NFC North quarterback landscape in 2025.

If that happens, the Bears won’t just be better — they could be contenders.
